Obogashchenie Rud

Several themes studied in the papers of the first issue of the journal in this year should be pointed out.

Development of low-water-consumption technologies for mineral materials processing is a prioritytechnological direction in the activities of the Research-and-Engineering Corporation “Mekhanobr-Tekhnika”. The paper (by T. M. Baldaeva, et al.) published in this issue of the journal describes the studies on thermochemical modification of mineral coal that permits to significantly change its physical and mechanical properties, thus providing favorable conditions for subsequent dry beneficiation of coal.

A conventional approach to development of the Syrymbet deposit (Kazakhstan) tin-bearing ore processing technology is demonstrated in the paper by P. K. Fedotov, et al. The authors provided rationalization for the expediency of application of hydraulic classification. The developed processing flow sheet permits to regulate gravity concentrate grade by means of varying its yield.

The authors from the Chemical-and-Metallurgical Institute named after Zh. Abishev (V. P. Malyshev, et al.) continue the investigation on development of the universal probabilistic model of grinding. The paper considers grinding process in rod mills.

Also, in continuation of the earlier papers, dedicated to sampling, the issues of analysis of samples containing uncrushable material inclusions are considered (the paper by V. Z. Kozin, et al.). In order to provide for acceptable margin of analytical error, uncrushable inclusions are proposed to be separated into individual product. To remove uncrushablenative metals from samples, it is proposed to apply the equipment developed by “Tails Co.”.

To extend the limited prospects for nepheline ores beneficiation with a view to alumina production – is the task of the research, carried out by V. М. Sizyakov, et al., upon using alkali-free feed additives in limestone-nepheline mix. In addition to solution of the main task, this technique permits to utilize such types of raw materials, as low-gradebauxites, water-purificationsediments, ferroalloy smelting and foundry production slag.
