Posco Specialty Steel commissions peeling machine

Posco Specialty Steel, based in Changwon, Gyeongsangnam-do Province, South Korea, has successfully commissioned a peeling machine of the type-PMS 250 including polishing unit, supplied by SMS Meer. With this new plant the company is expanding its product range and enhancing its competitive position.

The PMS 250, supplied by SMS Meer, boasts an integrated polishing head and carries out peeling and polishing in one pass. It processes bars with a diameter of 80 to 250 millimeters and bar lengths of between 3.5 and 9.5 meters. It offers a diameter tolerance of h9 and surface roughness of Ra ≤ 0.5 μm. The plant is designed for diameter reductions of up to 15 millimeters. Depending on the product mix the plant is capable of attaining an annual capacity of up to 75,000 tons.

“We chose the SMS Meer peeling machine as we were impressed by the quality of the finished product and the high machine productivity,” says Jong-Hoon Na, Team Manager at Posco Specialty Steel.
