Liaoyuan Fangda orders world's largest wedge press
06.05.2014, 19:39Liaoyuan Fangda Forging from Liaoyuan, China, has placed an order with SMS Meer, Germany, for a new wedge press for its forging plant in Pinggang Town, Jilin Province, China. Liaoyuan plans to establish the largest forging center in China. The machine from SMS Meer will enable longitudinally-oriented forged parts to be produced in high quality.
The KP 16000 press will have a nominal force of 160 MN (160,000 tons), and will then be the world's most powerful wedge press. The planned initial production rate is 310,000 parts per year.
The high transverse rigidity and resistance to tilting of the wedge press allow the table to be loaded over a large area. Liaoyuan will thus be able to produce high-quality truck crankshafts and front axles.
Commissioning is scheduled for the third quarter of 2016.
Ma Xuan, China Machinery Engineering Corporation, and Chen Gang, Chairman of the Board of Liaoyuan Fangda Forging (from left), seal the contract for the delivery of the world's largest wedge press together with Lorenz Wenzel, Sales Director Closed-Die Forging Presses of SMS Meer.
