Waste heat boiler for fuming process
24.04.2012, 01:16Plant constructor Oschatz announced today a new order from the field of non-ferrous metallurgy. The Germany-based company was selected by Teck Metals Ltd. to produce and deliver components for the No. 4 Furnace Project, which will triple their current capacity to process end-of-life electronics.
Located at their integrated zinc and lead smelting and refining complex in Trail, BC, Canada, the project is expected to take two years to construct, becoming operational in 2014. Oschatz has been involved in the planning and feasibility of this project since 2006, and will be designing and producing the 3-shaft waste heat boiler downstream fuming process.
“We are very pleased about this contract – not least because we have been dealing with the subject for many years now,” said Mieczyslaw Grzesiak, Head of Sales in the field of nonferrous metallurgy. “We’ve been involved right from the start and are glad to be able to see the project through.”
In the operation of the furnace, slag and electronic scrap are smelted at a temperature of approximately 1,300 °C. According to current plans, some of the saturated steam from the waste heat boiler will be re-used as part of existing operations.
