SMS Elotherm acquires heating technology specialist I.A.S.

SMS Elotherm, Germany, a company of the SMS Meer Business Area, has acquired the heating technology specialist I.A.S.

Induktions-Anlagen+Service GmbH, Germany. With 100 employees in Germany and China, the company is a world leader in the field of industrial electric heating technology.

"I.A.S. is an ideal complement to our product spectrum," says Dr. Andreas Seitzer, Managing Director of Elotherm.
"We can now offer our customers both induction heating systems for isothermal extrusion and the corresponding systems for melting, as well as the traditional spectrum offered by Elotherm with systems for induction hardening, heating and welding." I.A.S. will continue business operations under its own name. The board of management will consist of the previous I.A.S. Technical Director, Stefan Beer, and SMS Elotherm Commercial Director, Martin Schulteis.

The heavy machinery and plant engineering activities for the Product Areas Steelworks / Continuous Casting (Long Products), Tube Plants, Long Product Mills, Forging Technology, NF Metals Plants and Heat Treatment are combined in the SMS Meer Business Area.
