The group of well-known mining scientists present their opinion on circumstances and causes of serious accidents with people death at high production coal mines in Russia, using state-of-theart mechanized complexes and modernized technologies for development of methane-containing coal layers. Proposals on radical increase of explosion safety of up-to-date technologies of underground coal mining are formulated.
