Abstract

The samples of imported gray iron (similar to the grades SCh 10 and SCh 15), as well as high-strength imported cast iron of VCh 40 grade, domestic cast iron with vermicular graphite of ChVG 30 grade in the form of washers with diameter 10±0.5 mm and thickness 2.5±0.5 mm with ferrite structure were used for examination of cast iron heat conductivity. The tests were conducted using the device Netzsch LFA. The results of this examination testify that the following parameters have the effect of cast iron heat conductivity: volume and form of graphite inclusions; alloying additives; content of harmful impurities; degree of cast iron graphitization; non-metallic inclusions; volume of the structural components of cast iron metallic base; melt processing using nano-second electromagnetic impulses; cast iron temperature. The results of measurements of heat conductivity of cast iron samples declare that heating of the samples up to 200 °С leads to decrease of heat conductivity, except the samples of VCh 40 grade. These samples are characterized by saving heat conductivity during heating to the temperature up to 200 °С. The most strong temperature effect on heat conductivity was noted for the samples of SCh grade.
