Chernye Metally

Conventional section "Development of metallurgy in Russia and CIS countries" is presented by the article by specialists from the Saint Petersburg State Polytechnical University about dendritic micro-heterogeneity of cast steel. The paper reviews the publications concerning the dependence of dendrite arm spacing of iron-based industrial alloys on the conditions of solidification. In this section another article by specialists of this university isalso presented; it reports about basic ecological parameters of rolling production as the final stage of metallurgical cycle. These values are recommended by ISO 14000 (energy consumption, water consumption, emissions and solid waste) , the system of international certification of environmental performance. Analysis and recommendations for their improvement are given.

The article by specialists of Magnitogorsk State Technical University diescribes the features of forming the structure and properties of welded joints made of K56 steel of via arc welding. The results of comprehensive studies of the effect of arc welding technological procedures on the structure and mechanical properties of the heat affected zone of K56 pipe steel with are presented.

Metallurgy of steelmaking is directly connected with the production of slags. It is noted that high-technological steels can't be produced without slagsUsage of metallurgical slags as raw materials, building materials and fertilizers is observed. In the article by specialists of AG der Dillinger Huttenwerke company in the section "Iron and Steel Making ".

In the same section the article “Traces in alloys and their effect on steelmaking and casting is also published. It describes alloys used to produce the correct steel composition in the steel making plant , undesirable effects, especially casting problems which are observed if the impurities can react with inclusions in the steel. The effect of magnesium in sponge titanium and of oxygen in ferrotitanium are shown.

The section “Rolling” present the article by specialists of SMS Meer company about increased plant availability thanks to optimized roll use in the stretch-reducing mill. The article reportes about innovative technical solution of the design-related and technological characteristics of the process, allowing to cutthe required number of mill stands and to dicrease roll exchange cost.

Also in this section the article “High-efficient descaling with high-pressure accumulator"is published. The paper presents the concept of descaling units with high-pressure accumulators and without them. Potential of power-efficient and resource-saving process is demonstrated.

The Hoesch Hohenlimburg company a producer of a hot-rolled strip of special purpose, meets complicated and permanently changing requirements of customers by means of the advanced quality monitoring system. It provides faster quality control of production. Detailed information on other advantages can be found in the article published in the section "Control, organization and management of production process".

Representatives of many German companies note often friction, intense situations and misunderstanding in relationship with their business partners from other countries. At worst plans on business development are ruined. Often it is explained by wrong expectations, probably, because of ignorance of conventional features of business culture of their partners. Therefore, inoculation of cross-cultural competence becomes more and more important for implementation of strategic development plans of the personnel in the conditions of expansion of the international cooperation. This theme is analysedby B. Dreifert.
