Redox processes and intensification of metal leaching

A. P. Filippov, Yu. V. Nesterov

The book is devoted to the oxidation-reduction processes (redox processes), by the leaching of the non-ferrous, rare and noble metals from the ores, concentrates and other products. There are outlined the modern conceptions about the redox reaction mechanisms and the generalized positions, coming out from them. There is concidered the reactivity of a range of oxidants. The sufficient attention is payed for the specific redox processes in the non aqueous meda, as well as using the mixed gas SO2 and the atmospheric oxygen, using the metal ions with the mixed valence for leaching the uranium and other metals. There is considered the range of the redox processes (reactions). Occuring during uranium leaching from the ores, leaching of non-ferrous and rare metalls from the sulphide materials, as well as from gold and silver, using both the cyanide and alternative to it thiosulphate, chloride, iodine-iodide and bromide technologies. There is shown the possibility of increasing the efficiency of the uranium leaching from the ores, using the natural complexons, by the example of lignosulphonates. There is given an information about some physical intensification methods of the leaching processes.
